What exactly is StarRezCache?
A performance layer purpose-built for StarRez. It caches PortalX pages, API responses, images and eligibility logic at the edge, queues excess traffic fairly, and keeps StarRez origin safe. Think CDN + smart API gateway + waiting room, pre-tuned for housing workflows.
Do we need to replace or upgrade StarRez?
No. We support PortalX and classic Portal, all recent StarRez versions. You keep your configuration, we just accelerate it. Rollback is a DNS flip.
Will students see outdated room availability?
No. Holds, assignments, cancellations and payments trigger instant targeted purge (median 620ms). We cache aggressively what is safe (layouts, static content) and cautiously what is dynamic (live bed counts).
Is student data safe and compliant?
Yes. AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, US/EU data residency, field-level PII redaction in logs, FERPA-aware retention and one-click purge. SOC 2 Type II, pen-tested yearly.
How long does onboarding take?
Typical campus: 14 days. Day 1-7 learning, day 8-10 simulation at 3× peak, day 11+ soft launch. We provide runbooks, RA training videos and live war-room for your first selection.
What happens if StarRez goes down?
Stale-while-revalidate serves last-known good pages with clear banners, queues new submissions, then replays automatically when StarRez recovers. Students never see a blank 500.
